What Do we Do?

Celebrate the Feast of St Francis (October 4th)

Annual talks to excite and inform in celebration of our Annual Patron Saint day…

Previous speakers and talks have included:

“St. Francis is Alive: Franciscan Spirituality for Today” by local author, preacher and gifted speaker, Fr. Kevin Schindler-McGraw, OFM Conv.

Dr. Ronald Herzman, a leading American scholar of St. Francis of Assisi, and Distinguished Teaching Professor or English at the State University of New York, College at Geneseo. A popular lecturer, Dr. Herzman has for many years led Summer Seminars in Florence, Siena and Assisi, to immerse American public school teachers in the history and literature of medieval Europe through the National Endowment for the Humanities. Several of his lectures on St. Francis and on Dante, have been published by the The Teaching Company.

Lenten Supper Lecture series:

Annually –  a thought-provoking series with food for the body as well as the soul. Based on a different “theme” each year. Brings one or more speakers to St. Francis during Lent. This is one of the most important annual activities for the Adult Christian Formation team.

Food prepared by our wonderful Friars!

Sponsors up to two major events each year

Open to the entire South Bay community. In the past, these activities have included panel discussions (sometimes supplemented by films), on topics such as the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and the Dead Sea Scrolls.
