Dr Jeannie Cobb’s Biography

Dr. Jeannie Cobb

Introducing Dr. Jeannie Cobb:  St. Francis’ Interim Director of Music Ministries

Dr. Jeannie Cobb has a deep passion for both music and worship. The daughter of a pastor and a singer from an early age, Jeannie has participated in church and in music her whole life. Jeannie graduated from Occidental College with a Bachelor of Arts with Music Emphasis (Choral Conducting), received a Masters of Music (Vocal Performance) from California State University at Fullerton, and earned a Doctorate in Worship Studies from the Robert E. Webber Institute of Worship Studies.

Jeannie has participated in leadership in several different denominations, including Presbyterian and Catholic, and the Robert E. Webber Institute of Worship Studies is hosted in an Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, FL, where Jeannie learned to love the Episcopal liturgy.

She has led multiple choirs and orchestras of all ages in music for worship and also for fun. Most recently, she has served as Minister of Music and Worship at St. Peter’s-by-the-Sea Presbyterian Church in Rancho Palos Verdes. Jeannie has been married to The Rev. Dr. Clayton Cobb, a Presbyterian pastor, for seventeen months and is grateful for God’s gracious gift of second chances. Clayton and Jeannie have four grown children and became grandparents on October 30 2012! Besides church music Jeannie spends time training for and running marathons with Clayton. Jeannie and Clayton live in San Pedro.

Jeannie begins her relationship with St. Francis in an “interim” capacity.  This is common practice in parishes undergoing leadership transitions following long tenures. In a year’s time, the position may become permanent. Welcome, Jeannie, and blessings on this new beginning!
